「内政不干渉の原則を尊重しつつも、人道的な保護を目的とする場合に限っては例外的に武力介入を伴う内政干渉が許容される」とする立場の[[人道的介入]]は、各国の主権を差し置いて別の何かを優先する論理であるという文脈において、制限主権論と軌を一にする。プラハの春事件における制限主権論と同様、人道的介入という理論は、当事国政府に対する事前許可を得ない武力介入を正当化した。具体的に、1990年代の[[ユーゴスラビア紛争]]への武力介入、2003年の[[イラク戦争]]、2011年の[[2011年リビア内戦|リビア内戦]]への武力介入、2011年に始まった[[シリア騒乱|シリア内戦]]のうちシリア政府の事前許可を得ていない全ての勢力の武力介入、などが挙げられる。<br />
